About
Hi, my name is Moody and I have hereditary hemochromatosis. I have been living with it for about a year now and thought it might be helpful to others with hemochromatosis to share some of my learning in the form of a blog. I had quite a time with it when I was first diagnosed across a range of issues and I hope to make the experience easy for others who re new to the whole phlebotomy/low iron diet game. Also, I hope that other people with hemochromatosis will use this site as a resource to share and learn.
I am one of the lucky ones. I was diagnosed early in the onset of the disease. While my organ function levels were on the high side, I did not have any long term damage to my heart, kidneys or liver. I am going to focus on people newly diagnosed as I believe this is where a site like this can be most impactful. Also I do not have any personal experience with more advanced hemochromatosis, or hemochromatosis with complications. I look to the community to provide knowledge/experience on this area.
Finally, I am not a medical doctor not am I giving medical advice on this website. Treating Hemochromatosis should be only under the direction of your doctor. Nothing on this website should be construed as medical advice, treatment direction or any other means of treating your condition. This site is informational and intend to be used a resource guide for people under the care of a medical physician.
